New American Cinema: 1960-1990: "A Hard Day's Night," Richard Lester

Lester directed this film which starred the phenomenal Beatles in 1964 after they took America by storm.   Now regarded as one of the most beloved musical film of all time, it was for a majority of Americans their first cinematic look at the famous quartet of John, George, Paul and Ringo.

Inspiring music videos, developing "The Monkeys" TV series, and other "concert" films, young people's interests became targeted by independent investors, young directors who avoided the studio system, and upcoming actors who were very serious about their "roles."
