Great Writers: Flannery O'Connor

O"Connor is a hit with my high school students.  Her stories are stock Southern stories which emphasize the corruption of American Southern Culture.  

Her characters were consider "grotesque," because, although they all experience the grace of God, they choose evil.  Or maybe, evil chooses them.  

O'Connor died young, but not before she entered the American Canon with her short stories.  

"Good Country People," "A Good Man is Hard to Find," "The Life You Save May Be Your Own," and "A Displaced Person" are featured in this unit.
