When the Osage were forced off a reservation along the Kansas Missouri border, they eventually bought land in the abandoned hill country of Oklahoma.  Oklahoma, though, was very adversarial to all Minorities.  The Land Rush and the Tulsa riots were harbingers for how the white Oklahomans would treat their new neighbors, the Osage.

Te Osage were savvy enough to retain their mineral rights to their territory.  Not only did it keep out whites from squatting on their land, it gave them a resource that the NY Times wrote, "The Osage are the richest men in America."  This book is about the crimes that whites committed against the Osage to steal their wealth.
